Overview

McGuireWoods has an opportunity for a self-starting, detail oriented individual to join its Accounting team as a Staff Accountant in Richmond, VA. The candidate most closely-aligned with the role has experience with trial balance accounts and other general ledger accounts, creating/entering journal entries, and demonstrates proficiency with Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Performs monthly account reconciliations for moderately complex accounts.
  • Analyzes general ledger fluctuations and researches discrepancies.
  • Performs specialized accounting functions to support the Firm's fiduciary responsibilities to its clients.
  • Plays a major role in monthly close processes including the preparation of journal entries and related audit trail support.
  • Reconciles and monitors the majority of the firm's cash accounts.
  • Records intercompany cash receipts.
  • Supports the manager on special projects and leads less complex projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Preferred degree in accounting and one to two years of experience.
  • Functional knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to work independently (with minimal supervision) to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, detail-oriented and problem solving skills.
  • Interest in using innovative AI technology, including Harvey and Copilot, to support efficient high-impact work.
