Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position working night shifts with a 1:7 patient ratio and telemetry experience preferred.

Details

  • Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting
  • Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Schedule options: 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48 per week
  • Patient ratio of 1:7
  • Rotating weekend requirement
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Telemetry experience preferred, including on-unit and remote monitoring
  • Epic EMR (preferred)
  • Work settings include MS/Tele, PCU/Stepdown, Telemetry, Orthopedics, and Cardiovascular units

Requirements

  • Active TN or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • At least 1 year of PCU experience documented within the past 2 years (hard requirement)
  • Current AHA BLS required; AHA ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
  • AHA-issued certifications only accepted
  • Candidate must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Two supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Drug test must be completed within 12–14 days prior to start; candidates must be available and willing to return for a second test if needed
  • Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines
  • Skills in respiratory management, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, neurological care, wound care, and isolation precautions are relevant to this role

Additional Information

  • Orientation begins on Sundays via online computer-based learning (CBLs); modules average 4–5 hours and are completed during orientation
  • Nurses are expected to actively support clinical education for nursing students alongside their regular patient care duties
  • Trauma Level I facility; Level I trauma experience preferred, particularly for first-time travelers
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility
