Description:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse for our MedSurg/Tele unit.
This unit has 8 beds with an average census of 8 patients per day.
The patient population primarily includes general medical cases, with some cardiac issues, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, chest pain, and fluid overload.
The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4, with certified nursing assistants supporting with vital signs and glucose checks, as well as assisting with safety rounds and activities of daily living.
A charge nurse is available on the floor but may also have a full patient assignment.
Phlebotomy services are available for peripheral blood draws.
The nursing team will start their own IVs as needed.
Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, and hospitalists and intensivists are onsite around the clock.
Telemetry monitoring technology is in use, with nurses responsible for reading and interpreting cardiac strips during their shifts.
The electronic medical record system utilized is Epic.
Nurses will also work with IV pumps and medication dispensing equipment.
Unit-specific equipment includes PCAs, tracheostomy care supplies, and tools for complex wound care.
The culture on the unit is friendly and collaborative, reflecting an academic medical center environment.
