JOB SUMMARY The hospitalist advanced practice nurse or clinical nurse specialist must possess knowledge of professional medical practice and care to administer and evaluate patient care; knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer care; knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care; knowledge of common safety hazard and precautions to establish a safe work environment; skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care, skill in maintaining medical records, skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, families, patient care staff, supervising physicians, medical community, and referring providers. Required to stand, walk, sit, push and pull, use fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
