The Specialist is also responsible for providing instructional leadership and support for teachers and paraprofessional staff in ELD curriculum and instruction, monitoring the progress of English learners toward reclassification, creating and implementing Individual Learning Plans for English learners who are not making adequate progress, providing professional development, including job-embedded activities and coaching, in effective ELD instruction and in Specially-Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE), and in organizing and providing outreach for the parents of English learners, including the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC).
