We ground all of our work in racial equity, in our core values (Service, Courage, Humility, Originality, Leadership, Achievement, and Reflection), and in our five guiding principles: 1) all children can and will succeed when provided a great education; 2) the best learning occurs when children engage in higher-order, critical thinking; 3) a nurturing and supportive environment supports students'' love of learning and of themselves; 4) self-awareness promotes dynamic leadership and global understanding; 5) active community engagement richly enhances educational opportunities. The East Harlem Teaching Fellowship, an EHTP program, in partnership with Hunter College School of Education, is an innovative, cohort-based teacher-training pathway for recent college graduates and career changers that develops, supports, and certifies aspiring educators to become inclusive learning teachers for East Harlem Scholars Academies and the greater East Harlem community.
