It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to, verifying data, report writing, summarizing and reconciling information or financial data, records management, claims review and processing, data collection and analysis, research, inventory, human resources administration, and fund collection or expenditures.
