NEIS, LLC has been a leader in the insurance audit and loss control prevention industry since 1945 and seeking a Premium Auditor as we continue to grow our team. Premium Auditors examine the financial records of businesses insured by commercial property and casualty insurers to make sure they are following laws and regulations. As a premium auditor, looking for evidence of fraud and checking that insured businesses adhere to these regulations are your primary responsibilities. Your job will be based from home with required daily travel to each audit location. Car travel will be on average of 2-4 days per week within your assigned territory.Job Responsibilities: <ul><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Conduct insurance premium audits for Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Automobile policies by auditing policyholder’s records, and applying manual rules and company standards. </li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Prepare for the audit by identifying the necessary information and type of records needed</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Prepare schedule to maximize optimal use of time</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Correspond with insured via phone, email and mail to setup audit appointments.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Examine the policyholder’s records, gather data to determine correct classifications for business activities and write an effective description of operations</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Prepare complete audit document, explain results to insured and communicate the results to the home office</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Travel to multiple audit locations </li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Hybrid position - work from home and complete remote audits 2-3 days per week </li></ul>Job Requirements: <ul><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Associate’s Degree or equivalent plus two years’ performing premium audits or equivalent combination of education and experience highly desired </li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial documents</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">General PC knowledge including Microsoft Excel and Word. SUMMARY: The Controller oversees the accounting and finance functions, ensuring precise financial reporting, strong internal controls, and robust support for the company’s growth and operations. This role supervises daily accounting tasks, including A/P, A/R, general ledger, and cash management, and liaises with the payroll vendor. It also includes managing budgeting, forecasting, and preparing for audits. The position collaborates with ownership, banks, and external accounting firms to ensure compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and company policies. By offering clear financial analysis and advice, the Controller facilitates informed decision-making and advances the company's long-term strategic goals.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<ul><li>Manages and develops finance and accounting staff, providing coaching, feedback, and oversight of daily workload and priorities.</li><li>Oversees all core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close processes.​</li><li>Prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and clarity for leadership.​</li><li>Leads weekly or regular financial review meetings to discuss performance, cash flow, and key metrics with management.</li><li>Performs and approves journal entries, reconciles balance sheet accounts, and resolves discrepancies or unusual variances.​</li><li>Develops, monitors, and reports on annual budgets and periodic forecasts, partnering with department leaders to align financial plans with operational needs.</li><li>Coordinates and manages annual audit activities, serving as the primary contact for external auditors and ensuring required schedules and documentation are completed.​</li><li>Investigates and addresses audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance, recommending corrective actions where needed.​</li><li>Oversees preparation and filing of federal, state, local, and special tax returns in collaboration with the external accounting firm.​</li><li>Designs, refines, and documents accounting systems, processes, internal controls, and procedures to improve efficiency and safeguard company assets.</li><li>Provides financial analysis and modeling to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, pricing decisions, and cost-saving opportunities.​</li><li>Maintains productive relationships with banks, external accountants, and other financial partners on behalf of the organization.​</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned to support the Corporation’s financial stability and growth.</li></ul>REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:<ul><li>Strong leadership and people-management skills to guide accounting staff, delegate work effectively, and build a high-performing finance team.</li><li>Advanced knowledge of GAAP and tax principles to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.​</li><li>High proficiency with financial analysis and Excel for building reports, analyzing trends, and presenting data-driven recommendations.​</li><li>Clear written and verbal communication skills for explaining financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.</li><li>Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure in a growth environment.</li><li>Commitment to confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information and company records.</li></ul>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position supervises employees within the accounting and finance department.EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required; an MBA or CPA is preferred.</li><li>Over three years of progressive accounting experience, with prior management or supervisory roles highly preferred.</li><li>Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in inventory management, cost accounting, and job costing, is highly preferred.</li><li>Proven experience collaborating with external auditors, banks, and tax advisors.</li><li>Experience with isolved and QuickBooks or similar accounting software is preferred.</li><li>Demonstrates a proven history of enhancing processes, establishing controls, and fostering organizational growth through effective financial leadership.</li></ul>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>Must be able to stay stationary for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.</li><li>Must be able to occasionally move around the office to attend meetings, review documents, and collaborate with staff.</li><li>Able to operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, copiers, and printers.</li></ul>Powered by JazzHR
