This exciting role offers the opportunity to be a part of a fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for managing a broad range of accounting functions. This position performs accounting, budgeting, reporting, and auditing functions in accordance with governmental accounting standards, municipal policies, and applicable federal and state regulations. The Accountant works closely with department leaders, finance staff, and external auditors to ensure proper stewardship of public funds. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial records.Process and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and journal entries.Assist with preparation of annual budgets, amendments, and financial forecasts.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.Reconcile bank accounts and municipal funds.Monitor expenditures and revenues to ensure compliance with approved budgets.Assist with year-end closing activities and annual external audits.Maintain accounting records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements.Prepare reports and documentation for grants, state reporting, and regulatory compliance.Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management.Support internal controls and ensure compliance with municipal policies and procedures.Respond to inquiries from departments, vendors, auditors, and the public regarding financial matters.Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation & Experience Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.Minimum of 25 years of accounting experience preferred.Governmental or municipal accounting experience strongly preferred.Experience with fund accounting and budget management preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards (GASB).Strong understanding of budgeting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Certifications (Preferred) Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred but not required.Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) or related certification is a plus.Work Environment Primarily office environment within a municipal government setting.Standard business hours with occasional overtime during budget season, audits, or fiscal year-end.

About the role: We're looking for a Prevailing Wage and Apprenticeship Compliance Auditor (PWACA) on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment.(W-2) You will ensure compliance with prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements for renewable energy projects. Your role will involve auditing data inputs from contractors, verifying completeness and correctness, creating reports for deficiencies, and presenting findings to upper management. The PWACA will also input data into dashboards and host meetings to discuss compliance status. You will review payroll and determine if correct wages are paid, fringe benefits contributions are made, and all other aspects of labor compliance fulfill the client's requirements/contract. Each project will have its own unique requirements, and it will be the responsibility of the PWACA to gather each requirement and relay information to the respective individuals responsible for meeting compliance. You will gather certified payrolls and other related documentation. You will also implement detailed audits, composing reports of findings, and performing discrepancy research. Additionally, you will provide support and be the main contact for any prevailing wage labor compliance requirements. You will work remotely to support domestic content compliance for renewable energy projects. Your responsibilities will include diligently reviewing, validating, and tracking documentation required to substantiate eligibility for the Domestic Content Adder.
