These functions include but are not limited to obtaining accurate and thorough demographic information, responsibility for adhering to compliance with CMS, government payors, commercial and third party payors, EMTALA, and The Joint Commission rules and regulations and ensuring compliance, requirements, benefit verification, preauthorization requirements, signatures on consent for treatment, co-pay collection and other payments on previous balances, obtaining information, pictures and signature on HIPAA forms, issuing Medicare/Tricare Important Messages and Patient Rights and Responsibilities. The Registration Specialist is goal-oriented and makes decisions based on the worth and success of each individual involved in the Revenue Cycle.-Responsible for obtaining photo ID, insurance cards, signed forms and orders (when applicable) and scanning into the medical record at the time of registration/admission.
