Such experience must have demonstrated the ability to plan, lay out and set up work; set up, adjust and operate a variety of woodworking machines; operate and maintain equipment and tools used in carpentry and cabinetmaking; read, interpret and work from plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches and working drawings; estimate time, labor and material requirements; rig and work from scaffolds and other high and difficult vantage points; construct and repair high grade wooden furniture and fine woodwork; work to close tolerances; work with dexterity and safety; understand and follow oral and written instructions; maintain good working relationships with others; handle weights and loads. Under the direct supervision of the Lead Carpenter or Carpentry Supervisor, the position performs a variety of highly skilled journey level carpentry work involving the construction, renovation and modification of public facilities and the fabrication and installation of storage cabinets, counters, shelving, tables, doors and other accessory items such as key cabinets, drapery, valances, chalkboards, bulletin boards etc., which require the knowledge and use of high level cabinet-making skills.
