JOB SUMMARY: This position exists to fabricate structural components based on blueprints and layout specifications ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools · Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications using squares, rulers and measuring tapes · Align and fit parts according to specifications using jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps in position for welding or riveting · Analyze engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences · Move parts into position by hand or utilizing cranes and hoists · Setup and operate fabricating devices such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, drill presses to bend, cut form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components · Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal · Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to workpieces using measuring devices, squares, chalk, and/or soapstone · Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches · Coordinate with welders to build up low spots or short pieces with welding · Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Work Experience: 3+ years welding/fitting experience Education: Highschool diploma/ GED or equivalent Related Experience: · Attention to detail · Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks; keep up in a fast-paced environment · Modular building and/or solar installation experience · Crane experience · Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights.
