Specific duties include: Performing predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on instrumentation and control systems using diagnostic tools, historical data, blueprints, factory specifications, and the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); Diagnosing malfunctions in analyzers, transmitters, flow meters, pumps, and related electronic instrumentation by tracing circuitry, isolating faults, and recalibrating controls to restore peak performance; Analyzing system failures and operating conditions to determine root cause or potential for breakdown, and determine whether a malfunction originates in the instrument, control logic, wiring, or process condition; Evaluating work assignments to determine project scope, set priorities, and identify resource needs; plan and document follow-up activities; Coordinating work with operations and maintenance staff, other County agencies, and outside contractors on installation, repair, and system modification projects; and. Work Environment: Work is performed indoors and outdoors and includes exposure to moving vehicles and mechanical parts, electrical currents, high heat, chemicals, biohazardous waste, fumes, odors, dust, loud noise, and poor ventilation.
