Job Summary: The Medical Assistant professional is responsible for assisting practitioners in providing care to their patients.  The duties of the Medical Assistant includes, but is not limited to, recording and updating medical histories and contact information in patient files, scheduling patient appointments, and performing standard care procedures like drawing blood, checking vitals or collecting lab samples. Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. </li><li>Escorting patients into exam rooms. </li><li>Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.</li><li>Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.  </li><li>Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician. </li><li>Explain treatment procedures, medications, or physicians' instructions to patients. </li><li>Proper disposal of any waste materials in Biohazard or SHARPS containers</li><li>Organizing, planning, and prioritizing work in conjunction with the provider and Facilities Manager</li><li>Inventory of medical supplies and equipment. </li><li>Perform administrative clerical work in medical settings </li><li>Maintain inventory of medications for patients and procedure area </li><li>May operate x-ray or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic testing </li><li>Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment; observes the principles of sterile technique in performing duties </li><li>Prepares all pre screening for procedures and surgical consults </li><li>Fits and instructs on proper use of DME </li><li>Performing audits as needed on related tasks </li><li>Other duties and tasks as assigned</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>High school diploma or GED required</li><li>Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required; Medical Assistant Certification or Registered Medical Assistant strongly preferred</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills</li><li>Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a professional, courteous and friendly manner at all times</li><li>Must be detail-oriented and highly organized</li><li>Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies</li><li>Strong knowledge and understanding of electronic medical record systems</li><li>Knowledge of diagnostic testing equipment and sterilization equipment</li><li>Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures</li><li>Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times</li><li>Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred</li></ul>Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job responsibilities.  Pay: Competitive pay rate While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended use of computer.
