This position requires an experienced Class A CDL driver who is skilled in flatbed transportation, capable of securing heavy loads, and committed to safety and professionalism. Drivers must be comfortable working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and other weather elements.</p><p>This is a physical role that requires lifting, securing, and maneuvering heavy steel products, so candidates must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.</p><hr/><h3><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></h3><h4><strong>Safe Transportation:</strong></h4><ul><li>Operate flatbed trucks to transport steel products safely and efficiently to customer locations.</li><li>Adhere to all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies while driving.</li><li>Ensure proper weight distribution and securement of loads to prevent shifting during transit.</li></ul><h4><strong>Loading and Unloading:</strong></h4><ul><li>Properly load, secure, and unload steel products using chains, binders, and straps to ensure stability.</li><li>Assist with manual handling of materials when needed, including lifting up to 75 lbs.</li><li>Work in varied environments, including warehouses, yards, and outdoor loading areas.</li></ul><h4><strong>Route Planning & Time Management:</strong></h4><ul><li>Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption.</li><li>Utilize GPS and navigation tools while maintaining flexibility for unexpected route changes.</li><li>Communicate with dispatch regarding delays, road conditions, and schedule changes.</li></ul><h4><strong>Vehicle Maintenance & Inspections:</strong></h4><ul><li>Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure truck safety and readiness.</li><li>Report any mechanical issues promptly and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs.</li><li>Keep the truck clean and in compliance with all DOT regulations.</li></ul><h4><strong>Customer Interaction & Documentation:</strong></h4><ul><li>Professionally interact with customers during deliveries and pickups.</li><li>Obtain signatures and complete necessary delivery paperwork accurately.</li><li>Address customer inquiries and escalate any concerns to the appropriate team.</li></ul><h4><strong>Safety & Compliance:</strong></h4><ul><li>Follow all safety protocols when handling steel materials, securing loads, and operating equipment.</li><li>Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adhere to workplace safety guidelines.</li><li>Participate in ongoing safety training and compliance programs.</li></ul><hr/><h3><strong>Qualifications & Requirements:</strong></h3><h4><strong>Licensing & Experience:</strong></h4><ul><li><strong>Valid Class A CDL</strong> with a <strong>clean driving record</strong>.</li><li>Proven experience as a <strong>truck driver, preferably with flatbed and steel transportation</strong>.</li><li>Familiarity with <strong>steel products, loading/unloading procedures, and securing heavy materials</strong>.</li></ul><h4><strong>Physical & Work Environment Requirements:</strong></h4><ul><li>Ability to <strong>lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs</strong> regularly.</li><li>Comfortable working <strong>indoors and outdoors</strong> in <strong>all weather conditions</strong> (heat, cold, rain, snow).</li><li>Capable of <strong>climbing onto flatbeds, securing loads with chains and straps, and using manual tools</strong>.</li><li>Standing, kneeling, bending, and maneuvering heavy equipment throughout the workday.</li></ul><h4><strong>Skills & Attributes:</strong></h4><ul><li>Strong attention to safety and detail in securing and transporting steel materials.</li><li>Excellent communication and customer service skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing schedules.</li></ul><hr/><h3><strong>Why Join Us?</strong></h3><ul><li>Competitive pay.</li><li>Consistent, year-round work in a stable and growing industry.</li><li>Supportive team environment with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.</li><li>Career growth opportunities in steel distribution and logistics.</li></ul><p>If you're a skilled truck driver with experience in flatbed transportation, load securement, and steel handling, we want to hear from you!
