Individuals in this position will work closely with Cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and Radiologists. Must be able to exercise initiative and independent judgment. Technologist must be knowledgeable of techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality ultrasound images. Individuals in this position must be able to exercise independent judgment and initiative. Work with all segments of patient populations, including adults, and geriatric patients. There is the potential for infections from contact with infected patients. Also, there is possibly some contact with processing chemicals and other hazardous materials. Work hours can, at times, be irregular with the need to accept overtime and being on call. The work is physically demanding with the need for a lot of standing, bending, and lifting.Minimum education Graduate of accredited school of ultrasound/sonography. Registered in Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography (RDCS) and Vascular Technology (RVT). Required Skills Knowledge of human anatomy and spatial relationships of all cardiovascular structures.Ability to work well with cardiologists, physicians, technicians and hospital personnel.Ability to correlate images and patient history to particular pathologies so that the interpreting physician is provided with adequate diagnostic information.Ablility to learn new procedures and operate new equipment.Able to work quickly, efficiently, accurately and methodically.
