Degrees should be in a field that prepares the faculty member to contribute meaningfully to the purpose of BYU-Hawaii Religious Education, which is to teach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ from the scriptures and the teachings of modern prophets in a way that helps each student develop faith, testimony, and become a lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ. Candidates for this position should be academically, professionally, and intellectually prepared to excel in their discipline and deeply committed to advancing the mission of BYU-Hawaii through their teaching, scholarship, mentoring, service, and example.
