Key job responsibilities As a Senior Energy Storage Engineer on the Power Generation Solutions team, you will be responsible for: - Developing designs and analysis of different energy storage technologies, including, but not limited to; battery energy storage systems, long duration energy storage systems, and utility-scale energy storage - Support the integration of energy storage systems with different power sources, such as electric utilities, diesel generators, reciprocating engines, gas turbines, fuel cells, microgrids, distributed energy resources, and renewable energy, to serve data center loads in grid connected or grid independent configurations - Develop controls integrations strategies and designs, sequence of operations, and protection and relay schemes for energy storage systems - Develop acceptance criteria, test procedures, performance requirements, supplier requirements, and integration designs for energy storage systems, components, and products - Understanding the design and functionality of the global data center fleet, including existing, upcoming, and unique site designs - Interpreting, evaluating, and developing Single Line Drawings (SLD), engineering drawings, equipment submittals, equipment specifications documentation, and performance data to advance concepts and solutions - Providing feedback to the Design Engineering teams for design revisions for new data centers as well as to Field Engineering for operational data center upgrades - Working on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions - Being a leader within the group as well as within other teams - Being positive and offer creative, out of the box solutions - Having fun and working hard! This includes but is not limited to; uninterruptable power sources, medium and low voltage electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches - Experience and knowledge of inverter controls, EMS, and closed-loop control optimization - Experience and knowledge of medium-voltage and high-voltage equipment, including substation configurations, protection requirements, and integration of energy storage systems - Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, single and three-line diagrams, submittals, sequence of operations, and electrical drawing packages Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Electrical Engineering - Licensed Professional Engineer - 10+ years of direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical data centers or power infrastructure.
