DEFINITION: To provide classroom instruction to students through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing directly related to Fishing Gear, Industrial Skills, and Environmental Sampling; to maintain, repair, build, and replace all fisheries sampling gear (trawls, gill nets, cast nets, dredges, seines, etc.); and, the maintenance of shop equipment and shop spaces. Ability To: Teach marine technology subject matter to students - specifically in the areas of fisheries gear maintenance and repair, fisheries data collections, rigging, marlinspike seamanship, net mending, environmental assessment processes, environmental sample collection and handling, environmental laws/policies, industrial safety, measurement systems, power tools, and small project construction.
