Collaborates with Women and Children’s health team and families to establish and maintain a team approach to promote successful lactation, consults and reports the needs of lactating families to the healthcare providers, utilizes strategies to support breastfeeding by performing daily lactation rounds on Maternity, NICU, Pediatrics and to other departments within the Elliot Hospital system and assesses, plans, implements and documents an individualized lactation plan to promote consistent patient care. Demonstrates expertise in care of mother/infant complex breastfeeding problems and at risk infants, performs follow-up calls with families with breastfeeding problems or at risk, provides telephone support on “Lactation Warm Line” regarding breastfeeding issues, as well as provides outpatients or referral appointments, which includes assessing, planning, implementation, documenting and reevaluates the individualize plan.
