Competence in the operation, maintenance and major repair of science-related equipment such as microscopes, orbital shakers, ovens, autoclaves, hot plates and burners, respirameters, physiographs, ECG machines, stethoscopes, sphygmomanometers, light illuminators, blenders, mixers, vortexers, autolets, centrifuges, pH meters and electrodes, calibrated glassware, micropipetors, pipets and pipetors, autopipetors, electrophoresis chambers, spectrophotometers, microcomputers, and de-ionizing water and chromatography systems. Under the direction of the Dean, Mathematics and Science, the Biology Lab Technician provides support to Biology classes by maintaining laboratory equipment (clean, test, calibrate, perform major maintenance); developing operating procedures, and assist students/instructors in the proper use of the equipment; preparing, designing and setting up laboratory materials and equipment for demonstration and use by students.
