Division/Status: Full-time exempt, ManagementCity Market Co-Op is seeking a Finance Manager/Staff Accountant responsible for coordinating all finance functions in compliance with City Market policies: prepare financial statements, create budgets, prepare and monitor internal controls, monitor all financial transactions.Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position manages the day-to-day activity of three direct reports within the Finance team. As a member of the All Leadership Team (ALT), this position works closely with other Managers to ensure consistency of financial policy and procedures.### Day-to-Day Duties<ul><li>Prepare timely and accurate financial statements for review by the Director of Finance.</li><li>Maintain documented system of accounting policies and procedures.</li><li>Ensure that all monthly, quarterly and annual taxes are prepared and paid within terms.</li><li>Coordinate the annual ERISA and Financial audits with guidance from the Director of Finance.</li><li>Oversee the work of the Finance Team:</li><li>Efficiently track hours worked, benefit accruals and ensure proper payment to employees.</li><li>Develop and maintain robust internal control procedures in a multi-store format.</li><li>Ensure accurate and timely payment of all producers, farmers and distributors via PO, A/P, etc process.</li><li>Select, develop, supervise and evaluate the performance of direct reports. Be a management role model and assist team members in their supervisory responsibilities, which may include but not limited to: hiring, coaching, development, performance evaluation, and corrective action for department employees, as needed.</li><li>Create sustainable and forward-thinking departmental business plans and goals.</li><li>Develop and maintain favorable relationships with staff, members, customers, vendors and other stakeholders.</li><li>Understanding of and compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.</li><li>Ensure compliance with established City Market financial policies in compliance with GAAP.</li><li>Support City Markets Global Ends, Values, Co-op Principles and Diversity Statement.</li></ul>### Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelors degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent business experience.</li><li>NetSuite, Office Suite 365, with an emphasis on MS Excel, Point of Sale, and Paylocity HRIS preferred.</li><li>Minimum of five years experience developing & implementing budgets and adhering to labor cost requirements.</li><li>Minimum of five years management experience including but not limited to hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and developing staff.</li><li>Experience working in a union environment preferred.</li><li>The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.</li></ul>### Salary Description$65,000-$100,000

The team maintains existing client relationships and focuses on Employment Tax management and minimization opportunities as well as risk management opportunities. This includes enforcing policies, standards and guidelines, researching tax issues, preparing memorandums/letters, reviewing federal, state, and local tax returns, reviewing state unemployment insurance rate calculations, preparing and presenting tax assessment appeals and supporting litigation. The team responsible for understanding federal and state information reporting and tax withholding rules and regulations and to manage large scale reviews of client information reports for the purposes of determining any potential tax/penalty exposure, and also be responsible for reviewing client payroll and information reporting processes and controls, to identify areas of potential exposure and to make recommendations for process improvement.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Team works together and depending on the level of role, Ensure compliance with company policies, practice guidelines and standards.
Work closely with other Ryan team members in ensuring that there is no duplication of effort relating to the execution of client projects.
Work closely with the team in order to build practice knowledge base as well as mentor professionals within the firm.Client Duties<ul><li>Develop client workplans and schedules for associated project deliverables.</li><li>Performs services at client location(s) where required.</li><li>Prepares and conducts client presentations.</li><li>Reviews and reconciles client data and identifies tax issues to research.</li><li>Responds to client inquiries and requests from the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") and state/local tax agencies.</li><li>When required, serves as principal contact for client activity.</li><li>On all aspects of the appeal process (informal, formal, and litigation), and reports status and results to the client.</li><li>Assists clients with accruals, budgets, and forecasts.</li><li>Assists with client billing and collections, financial forecasting, and bonus allocations to appropriate group members.</li><li>Communicates new issues, legislative changes, training opportunities, and client needs and strategies.</li><li>Develops new clients, maintains existing clients and broadens practice scope.</li></ul>Value<ul><li>Manages and monitors all aspects of Employment Tax projects.</li><li>Obtains and reviews federal, state, local tax returns and supporting where required.</li><li>Maintains federal, state, and local as well as international (if required) employment tax calendars.</li><li>Manages the preparation, review, and processing any amended federal/state/local tax returns or other correspondence.</li><li>Manages and assists in the preparation of employment tax and state unemployment insurance appeals.</li><li>Pursues and maintains professional designations (e.g., Enrolled Agent ("EA"), Certified Public Accountant ("CPA"), Certified Payroll Professional ("CPP"), Certified Information Reporting Specialist ("CIRS").</li><li>Participates actively in professional organizations.</li><li>Actively promotes the practice internally and externally to build pipeline of viable employment candidates.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Education and Experience<ul><li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance/Economics, or Taxation required; Master's degree preferred and four to six years of employment tax related experience.</li></ul>Computer Skills<ul><li>To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
