Job Summary An adjunct faculty member will be responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards in his/her particular discipline. The individual is expected to exercise professionalism in all activities related to the role of academician, including those concerned with the various duties assigned by the Department Chair, and any involvement with colleagues, peers, community and students. The position of an adjunct faculty member is temporary, and is contracted as needed. Adjunct employees are compensated at a rate of $2000 per 3 ILH. Degree and credit hour requirements must be met in accordance with the criteria for accreditation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. 18 graduate semester hours in History, plus master's degree OR master's or doctorate degree in History. (POS) American Government: 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline, plus master's degree OR Master's or doctorate degree in political science, government, or international relations. (AMH) US History: 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline, plus master's degree OR Master's or doctorate degree in history. Computer Skills: Must demonstrate effective use of instructional technology and be familiar with current office hardware and software. Certificates and Licenses: Responsibility for Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate with students, staff and the public. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment varies from very quiet to moderate as is typical of an office or classroom environment.
