KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:ADONPlan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activitiesDevelop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service departmentPerform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessaryDetermine the staffing needsRecommend the number and level of nursing personnel to be employedAssist in calculating the number of direct nursing personnel care on duty each shiftEnsure that all nursing assistants are enrolled in or have graduated from an approved training programDevelop work assignments and schedule duty hoursMake daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure all nursing personnel are performing their work assignmentsReview complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnelEnsure that disciplinary action is administered fairlyParticipate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admissionDevelop a written plan of care for each resident that identifies the problems/needs, indicated the care to be given, goals to be accomplished, and which professional service is responsible for each element of carePrepare and plan the nursing service department's budget and submit to the Administrator. Must maintain a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferredEXPERIENCE:Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility Prefer a minimum (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practicesWORK ENVIRONMENT:Moves intermittently during working hours.
