The preferred candidate will be responsible for managing accounting activities, financial reporting, and internal controls, while ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with regulations and industry standards. The Controller will have the authority to assess and enhance departmental practices, promoting ongoing improvement and growth to support the company in achieving its short-term and long-term goals.<h3>Financial Reporting & Accounting</h3><ul><li>Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.</li><li>Manage month-end closing to ensure reliable monthly reporting process.</li><li>Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.</li><li>Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.</li></ul><h3> Compliance & Controls</h3><ul><li>Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial laws, regulations, and industry standards.</li><li>Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.</li><li>Maintain and improve accounting systems, processes, and policies</li></ul><h3>Project & Cost Accounting (Industry-Specific)</h3><ul><li>Manage tracking of capital expenditures and project costs related to solar installations and infrastructure.</li><li>Work with accounting team to ensure accurate project costing and revenue recognition through close coordination with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.</li><li>Manage grant funding, tax incentives (e.g., ITC), and renewable energy credits (RECs) accounting.</li></ul><h3> Team Leadership & Development</h3><ul><li>Manage and develop the accounting team, providing mentorship and training.</li><li>Foster a culture of continuous improvement and financial discipline across the organization.</li></ul> <h3>EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in accounting </li><li>5 years management experience - team of 3+</li><li>8-10 years’ experience in accounting</li></ul> <h3>KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES</h3><ul><li>Self-motivated and Self-directed</li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects under various deadlines. </li><li>Computer skills: MS office – advanced Excel skills </li><li>Knowledge and/or experience with utilizing ERP systems (Sage/Concur) </li><li>Experience with multi-location, multi-entity, and/or multi-state operation. </li><li>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Organized & detail oriented; able to keep sight of multiple deadlines & responsibilities. </li><li>Proven experience in leading finance teams, fostering collaboration, and professional development.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engagement with diverse stakeholders.</li><li>Ability to work effectively in remote and hybrid settings, demonstrating adaptability and self-motivation.</li><li>Minimum 3 years of experience in Distributed Generation and in management role overseeing a Corporate Accounting team.</li><li>8-10 years of relevant experience, with preference for renewable energy or construction accounting.</li></ul>Benefits<h3>Compensation and Benefits</h3>At SolAmerica Energy, we provide a compelling salary along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes equity-based compensation and opportunities for performance bonuses. The Senior Account Manager interacts with clients on a day-to-day basis while developing and maintaining relationships with both client and carrier representatives. This individual will prepare applications, specifications and marketing strategy for new business as well as the renewals of assigned clients with little to no supervision from their Supervisor on difficult lines. This role requires the employee to take on the role of lead consultant and primary point of contact for clients.
