This is a part-time 12-hours per week, 12 week, unpaid remote internship. If your availability is limited, you can work ahead and complete the program in fewer weeks.<br/>.<br/>Responsibilities will include:</p><ul><li>Leading public and political outreach in your state and district.</li><li>Meeting with members of Congress/Government in your State/District/Constituency.</li><li>Representing The Borgen Project at various business, political and community events.</li><li>Assisting with fundraising. Create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets.</li><li>Mobilizing individuals to contact their members of Government in support of key poverty-reduction legislation.</li><li>Speaking to groups, classes and organizations.</li><li>Writing letters of support for key programs to political leaders, media and other groups.</li></ul><p><strong><br/>Experience:</strong> No prior experience is necessary, we’re looking for people who are passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs, regardless of your GPAs/background.<br/><strong><br/>Details:</strong> This is an unpaid internship, although college credit is available.<br/><strong><br/>Start Date:</strong> New programs begin every month, you choose the month you wish to start.</p>

We are looking for staff who believe in honoring students for who they are and where they come from.</p><h3>Position Overview</h3><p>Under the direct supervision of the Principal, the Special Education Director will oversee and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines for special education.</p><h3>Qualifications</h3><p><b>Required :</b></p><ol><li>Licensed as a Special Education Director.</li><li>Minimum of 3 years of experience in special education.</li></ol><p><b>Preferred :</b></p><ol><li>Experience supervising or supporting special education due process in Minnesota Public Schools.</li><li>Experience supervising special education staff.</li><li>Knowledge of local and federal special education regulations.</li></ol><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><p><b>Program Development</b></p><ol><li>Direct staff in the development, management, and articulation of programs under the scope of this position.</li><li>Manage budgets for programs within this role's purview.</li><li>Prepare recommendations for new programs, program changes, facilities, staffing, equipment, and financing.</li><li>Provide program evaluations to assist administration in assessing program effectiveness and cost-benefit.</li><li>Represent the district and serve as a liaison to the Minnesota Department of Education, keeping administration informed of changes in legislation, funding, reporting, and staff certification.</li><li>Oversee special education transportation with Transportation Plus.</li><li>Work with the District Office Manager to update MARSS.</li><li>Attend IEP meetings as needed.</li><li>Provide oversight for Third Party Billing.</li><li>Ensure that claims, complaints, and inquiries are handled promptly and appropriately.</li><li>Collaborate with departments and agencies to meet the needs of district students effectively.</li></ol><p><b>Staff Development</b></p><ol><li>Delegate responsibilities to allow staff to utilize their skills fully.</li><li>Encourage and provide professional development opportunities to help staff excel.</li><li>Conduct appropriate job searches for qualified candidates for vacancies.</li><li>Make recommendations for staff retention and development.</li><li>Participate in district-level leadership activities and committees.</li></ol><p><b>Personal Development</b></p><ol><li>Stay current with new laws, trends, materials, and methods related to special education.</li><li>Attend relevant meetings, conventions, and conferences to remain informed about changes and new procedures.</li></ol><h3>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</h3><ol><li>Ability to manage the Dispute Resolution Process and ensure compliance with Due Process requirements.</li><li>Knowledge of state and federal budgets related to special education.</li><li>Understanding of current trends and new processes in programs under this position's supervision.</li><li>Demonstrated appreciation for diversity in all professional interactions and functions.</li><li>Proficiency in personal computer use and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).</li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and district operations.</li><li>Strong relationship-building skills, particularly with students requiring special education services.</li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals and groups.</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li></ol><h3>Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards</h3><p>This role operates in standard office and school building environments.</p><p>Our employees come from all walks of life.
