p>An associate degree (or higher) in paralegal/legal assistant/legal studies program or a certificate in a paralegal/legal assistant/legal studies program where the degree was granted from a regionally accredited college or university, or one approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) and one year of experience as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant (see definition in MQs) or an associate degree in any field where the degree was granted from a regionally accredited college or university, or one approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) and two years of experience as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant (see definition in MQs) or graduation from an accredited (ABA approved) law school with a degree required for NYS Bar will be accepted and two years of full-time experience as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant (see definition in MQs). Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: - Drafts a majority of the Disciplinary Unit's stipulations as well as fine offers on "fast-track" cases, under supervision of attorneys;
- Conducts research on disciplinary and licensing issues and drafts memos with findings;
- Assists attorneys with various tasks in connection with Disciplinary hearings, including obtaining licensing records, preparing exhibits, and summarizing exhibits;
- Reviews complaints and drafts summaries, determining next steps;
- Reviews responses received to investigatory letters, labels and describes documents, and uploads to proper file;
- Checks National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) website regarding disclosures made in connection with application background questions, reviews documents,and prepares summary;
- Assists with gathering documents for Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests; and.
