Essential duties include reviewing and approving criminal complaints; advising police on criminal investigations; interviewing and preparing witnesses, expert witnesses, and victims; examining and selecting juries; filing, preparing, and litigating both pre- and post-trial motions; attending preliminary conference, jury selection, and trial list review; litigating cases from initial charges through appeal, including through pleas or jury trials; negotiating case settlements; writing briefs and legal documents; researching legal topics; maintaining licensure and legal education credentials; and driving/traveling as necessary. Additional qualifications are fluency in English, effective interpersonal relations and communications skills (both written and verbal), attention to detail, time management, computer literacy, confidentiality, and skills in critical analysis related to identifying and solving problems, negotiations, and drafting contracts and agreements.
