About Working in Knoxville, Tennessee
Knoxville is known by many names: K-town, Knox Vegas, Scruffy City. Its nickname in the 19th century was "Marble City," which had nothing to do with the little glass balls popular with 12-year-olds. It came from the pink and gray stone from the Ross Quarry and Mead's Quarry used to build iconic buildings like the J.P. Morgan Library in New York and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
