Due to our continued growth, we are now recruiting for a Diagnostic Verification & Validation Engineer to be based at our office in Warwick.Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.The Role:
The Diagnostic V&V Engineer will be responsible for validating and verifying vehicle diagnostic functionality across current and upcoming vehicle programs. The role focuses on UDS-based diagnostics, in-vehicle networks, and ensuring EOL/production readiness. Candidates will work closely with feature teams to generate diagnostic readiness data required for software build acceptance and program milestones.Area of Responsibility:
Diagnostic Protocols & Network Debug
• Perform verification and validation of diagnostics services based on UDS (ISO14229).
• Debug and analyze communication on CAN, CANFD, and DoIP networks.
• Validate Transport Layer behavior and message flow for diagnostics-related ECUs.
• Investigate issues related to DTCs, session handling, security unlocking, flash sequences, etc.
• Capture and interpret network logs to support root cause analysis.Tools & Test Execution
• Execute diagnostic test cases using industry-standard tools such as:
• Vector CANoe/CANalyzo
• Wireshark
• Corvus (or equivalent EOL/diagnostic tools)
• Develop or update CANoe panels, CAPL scripts, and trace configurations where required.
• Perform log analysis and generate findings, defects, and recommendations.
• Support automation initiatives for regression testing and data generation.Diagnostics & EOL Specification Understanding
• Interpret and validated diagnostics specifications, EOL/production test requirements, and ECU interface documents.
• Ensured diagnostic readiness for software builds and support Build Acceptance Test (BAT) cycles.
• Cross-check ECU implementation against specification for UDS services, DID structures, routines, and DTC behavior.
• Collaborate with manufacturing/EOL team to align diagnostic behavior with plant requirements.Additional Responsibilities
• Generate structured V&V evidence, data reports, and build readiness metrics for program leadership.
• Work with feature owners, ECUs suppliers, and integration teams to close diagnostic issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of diagnostic validation processes and tool chains.Required Skills & Experience
• Strong hands-on experience with UDS, CAN, CANFD, DoIP, and Transport Layer diagnostics.
• Practical exposure to Vector tools, Wireshark, Corvus, and diagnostics scripting.
• Good understanding of automotive diagnostics architecture, DTC structures, service flows, and ECU communication.
• Ability to perform deep-level debugging and interpret logs from complex systems.
• Familiarity with EOL test flow, production constraints, and plant-level diagnostic checks.Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
• Knowledge of ISO standards related to vehicle diagnostics.
• Background in embedded systems, mechatronics, automotive electronics, or related engineering field.
• Exposure to automation frameworks (Python, CAPL, REST APIs) is a plus.Why This Role Is Critical

Overview:
COLUMBIA Integrated Power Systems (IPS) Engineering has an opening for an engineer to support the design, test, and system integration of the COLUMBIA Class Main Propulsion Motor Drives (MPDs). This role provides the opportunity to oversee the development and integration of critical components into the revolutionary electric propulsion system for the COLUMBIA Class. The D489 MPD team responsibilities include MPD design efforts, qualification testing, and analysis of complex systems within the component including power electronics, electromagnetics, control systems, etc. Additionally, the team has a strong focus on driving the supplier deliverables, test procedures, test reports, and design to meet all applicable requirements without deviation while identifying deficiencies in the specification to apply lessons learned to future electric propulsion plant submarine topologies. Qualifications:
Requirements:<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>BS or MS electrical engineering degree with technical background (Electrical, Systems, Mechatronics, etc.)</li><li>0 - 3 years of post-graduate relevant engineering experience</li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance</li><li>Ability to occasionally travel to remote facilities within the United States (Philadelphia, PA; Milwaukee, WI; Washington, D.C., etc.)</li></ul> Preferred:<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Master’s degree in electrical engineering</li><li>Experience working with government customers</li><li>Ability to understand macro level objectives and priorities while driving detailed level actions</li><li>Multi-disciplinary systems engineering experience in complex systems based products</li><li>Experience with Military Standards</li><li>Experience in variable speed motor drives, control systems, power electronics</li><li>Experience using MATLAB and/or Simulink</li><li>Experience with model based systems engineering</li></ul>
