JOB SUMMARY Medical technologist will perform all moderate and high complexity testing under the authorization of the laboratory medical director, perform testing as assigned with responsibilities for preanalytic, analytic, and postanalytic phases of testing to include proper patient identification, specimen collection, handling, performance and reporting of each test method, maintenance, and troubleshooting as applicable; performance of proficiency testing; understanding of reagent stability and storage; awareness of factors or limitations that influence testing results; assessment and verification of validity of patient test results through the performance and evaluation of quality control sample values; and documentation of all quality control and patient testing, maintenance, and corrective action activities. Operates various lab analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, lab refrigerators and freezers, alarm systems, incubators, rotators, water baths, safety hoods, incinerators, PCs, computer terminals and printer, telephone.
