Demonstrated knowledge of individual organizations, special education related services, visual impairment eligibility guidelines for the Virginia Department of Education, Expanded Core Curriculum for Children and Youth who are blind, vision impaired, or deafblind, role of a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired, high and low tech visual accommodations/technology, infant and toddler development, the impact of a visual impairment on all areas of a childs development, and the transition of toddlers from early intervention to school. Experience in writing IEP, teaching goals, and objectives as a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired, participating in IEP meetings, consulting with regular education teachers, transition specialists, and vocational rehabilitation counselors to assist students who are blind, vision impaired or deafblind.
