The antenatal RN communicates, as appropriate, with the patients, obstetric and maternal-fetal medicine care providers, obstetric office staff, perinatal ultrasonographers, genetic counselors, and labor and delivery staff, changes in a patient’s clinical condition and testing results. In collaboration with the maternal-fetal medicine physician, the antenatal RN uses assessment, planning and intervention skills to evaluate the patient’s clinical condition, including the use of patient history, diagnostic test results and symptomology during antenatal testing.
