Operates various equipment, including jet machine, power saw, underground utility locator, water pumps, backhoe, and cranes; Maintains equipment in proper working condition, including checking oil, water, fuel, tires, and hydraulic system, and making appropriate adjustments; Preforms routine maintenance of water system components, water valve maintenance, replacing water meters and meter boxes, preform gallons per minute testing; Flow test, trouble shoots, replaces, and maintains all fire hydrants in the distribution system; Sets up street barricades and detour routes as necessary; Has the necessary skills to excavate around gas, sewer, electric, and telephone lines; Completes work orders; Cleans and maintains vehicles, equipment, yard, and shop; Serves on call duty with wastewater department to respond to after-hours customer water or sewer problems; Supervisory Responsibilities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to engage in moderate to strenuous physical activity, work with tools and equipment, drive vehicles or equipment, perform repetitive motions, perform work involving the entire body, stand, and walk and balance on all types of surfaces.
