A typical day may include preparing and rooming patients, obtaining histories and completing clinical intake, assisting providers with clinic flow and procedures, providing patient education, applying braces/DME, assisting with or independently performing casting and splinting once competency requirements are met, and coordinating follow-up needs. ATCs are expected to demonstrate sound clinical judgment, advocate for patient safety, communicate effectively with providers and staff, engage in continuous improvement activities, and model professional behaviors aligned with NATA's expectations for leadership, cultural competence, and patient advocacy.
