Interviews and registers incoming patients in person; obtains and data enters patient demographic and financial information in the Bryan Heart computer systems; ensures data integrity, completeness and confidentiality in a variety of areas as assigned by supervisor. *Supports the financial goals of Bryan Heart by ensuring timely collection of patient deductibles, co-insurance and deposits; identifies underinsured, uninsured and self-pay patients for immediate referral to patient accounts.
Works with patients, physicians, physician office staff, third-party payers, patient financial services, hospital outpatient department and case management staff to secure hospital reimbursement, pre-payments, avoid denials and private non-payment. *Directs and advises departmental personnel in patient service center procedures; facilitates the scheduling of patient service staff to ensure coverage for all required areas; supervises and evaluates the work of assigned staff members.

Works directly with various members of the healthcare team, hospital departments, and administration in providing support, guidance, and direction for proactive and reactive problem solving and ensuring resolution of patient experience concerns. Facilitates the Bryan Medical Center Grievance Committee and attends or leads other committees to communicate patient experience concerns and facilitate process improvement activities that align with the organization's Strategic and Quality and Patient Safety Plan.
Collects payments according to area procedure; writes receipts and acts as cashier, including balancing of petty cash per department specific procedure; secures/releases patient valuables (money, credit cards, jewelry, etc.), writes receipts and maintain log/audits; secures motel/respite rooms for patients and/or families as needed. *Performs patient charge entry and reconciliation process by checking daily patient charges for accuracy; follows up with physicians or medical staff when incomplete or erroneous information is noted; acts as primary liaison with Patient Financial Services and Health Information Management regarding billing and patient record documentation; assures updated forms in drop box.
