According to the UAMS Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder, a Pharmacy Technician II/III/IV may be assigned one of these specialized roles: automation, controlled substances, pharmacy buyer, investigational drugs, medication reconciliation, compounding specialist or WAM (retail) order entry, and may also support operations of the vaccine clinics. The dispensing operation includes gathering the appropriate medication, researching data in the EPIC computer system, compounding medications, maintaining appropriate and adequate stock, and other duties related to dispensing medication to the patient.
