Draws blood samples on adults; reviews collection kit to ensure all required information is present; determines types of specimens to be collected and if proper patient preparation has been accomplished; selects appropriate venipuncture site and cleans to ensure contamination-free field, taking into account for any adverse reaction to cleaning solutions if indicated by Soldier/civilian or medical personnel. Performs donor registration and personal interviews to obtain medical histories and visual inspections of blood donors, ensuring donors meet all Food and Drug Administration criteria, current Good Manufacturing Practices, AABB (American Association of Blood Banks), and the Armed Services Blood Program.
