KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE WORK: Considerable knowledge of public administration, business methods, purchasing and marketing practices, good knowledge of the laws relating to public purchasing, knowledge of a wide variety of equipment and supplies including technical items used in public service division; a high degree of tact and diplomacy in dealing with vendors and department heads; initiative and resourcefulness; professional integrity; ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with employees, consultants, the City Attorney, public officials, vendors and the general public; good office communication skills; proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel and Publisher; ability to speak publicly. The employee in this position will required to travel locally to various locations for training, to meet with departments about their procurement needs, conduct pre-bid and bid opening meetings, and assist with other matters related to the bidding/procurement process.
