Supervise and direct the operations and activities of the Tree Maintenance Division in the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department; plan, organize, and direct the work of subordinate staff; safely operate a variety of tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair; estimate time and materials for completion of projects; coordinate and conduct training programs for staff; respond to issues and concerns from the community; work independently and as part of a team; meet the public in situations requiring diplomacy and tact; prepare contract documents; plan, organize, and supervise the work of subordinate staff; interpret, explain, and apply applicable laws, codes, and regulations; maintain accurate records; prepare and present reports make sound decisions within established guidelines; follow written and oral directions; observe safety principles and work in a safe manner; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships. Supervises, inspects, and participates in the work of crews engaged in the assigned tree program, including tree planting, maintenance, trimming, and care of City street and park trees; supervises the weed abatement program; outlines unusual work assignments and special projects according to general instructions; coordinates and provides liaison to contractors; inspects completed work.
