Clinical responsibilities may include blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, phototherapy, breast milk handling, oral and nasogastric or nasojejunal tube management, isolation precautions, sepsis workups, blood product administration, arterial and central line management, intravenous medication administration, and neonatal dosage calculations. Respiratory care experience includes bubble continuous positive airway pressure, high-flow nasal cannula, high-frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, oscillators, endotracheal tube suctioning, Vapotherm, chest tube management, tracheostomy management, and ventilator management.
