The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a high-acuity, fast-paced recovery environment dedicated to delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care to patients emerging from anesthesia following surgical, interventional, and diagnostic procedures. PACU Registered Nurses are responsible for rapid, comprehensive patient assessment upon arrival from the operating or procedure room, vigilantly monitoring airway stability, hemodynamics, neurological status, pain control, and potential post‑anesthesia complications.
