o CST: knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques, knowledge of various types of surgical equipment ● Support on the Unit: o Charge Nurse – does not take assignment o Surgeon there during the day/on call after cases are through o Anesthesia there for cases/on call after cases o Surgery scheduler during the day o OR aid works as secretary ● Charting System/Equipment: o EPIC – required o Pyxis o Alaris ● Floating: o Will Float to 2 other sites: ▪ Southern Lakes ▪ Lakeland ▪ Will get a schedule every week to show where they will float to that week ● Orientation: o 1-3 shift based on comfort ● Scheduling: o Can we approve time off? Yes ● Patient Types: o Inpatient, outpatient, ER o General, GYN, ENT, Urology, Ortho, Podiatry, Vascular o Pediatrics are seen with ENT; peds are usually done once per week (5-10% of case load); experience with peds preferred ● Required Certifications: o RN: ACLS, BLS o CST: BLS, CST ● Skills required o RN: must be able to circulate, able to make critical, independent decisions, able to collaborate with others, multi-tasking, able to recognize situational changes that require unanticipated interventions.
