The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is an independent health care provider who coordinates care through collaboration with the attending Physician, The PA or APN provides care in accordance with the objectives policies and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee, The main function of this role is to provide consistent, high-quality perioperative/postoperative care for all surgery patients, The APP will be expected to function as an active member of the surgery patient care team, Responsibilities include surgical first assisting, perioperative/postoperative management, hospital rounds on inpatients, and emergency room consultations, The APP will be expected to work to the full extent of their licensure with an emphasis on supervised autonomy, This can include insertion/discontinuing central lines including but not limited to chest tubes, arterial lines, wound dressing changes, bed side procedure, insertion of temporary dialysis catheters daily physical exams, and addressing any concerns of the patients on the service.
