Common clinical skills include noninvasive airway management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, chest tube care, ostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube management, high-flow nasal cannula management, insulin administration, arterial blood gas interpretation, isolation precautions, oxygen administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, peripherally inserted central catheter management, pre- and post-hemodialysis care, renal failure management, intravenous therapy, surgical drain care, tracheostomy management, substance withdrawal care, and wound care. The unit supports patients with complex medical and surgical needs and includes collaboration with intravenous therapy teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit support staff.
