The role includes tracheostomy care, arterial puncture, 12-lead EKGs, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, mechanical ventilation setup and monitoring, documentation of treatments and patient responses, and communication with physicians and shift teams. Duties include conducting physician-prescribed treatments, operating ventilatory equipment, performing suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and assisting with procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
