This includes temporary work assignments in the specialties of immunohematology, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and/or serology. Additionally, phlebotomy duties may be assigned as warranted.</li><li style="font-weight:400">Operate scientific instruments and perform any required procedure after proper instruction.</li><li style="font-weight:400">Evaluate, troubleshoot, research, and resolve day-to-day problems that arise.</li><li style="font-weight:400">Instruct and evaluate the medical technology students’ performance while rotating in the assigned area.</li><li style="font-weight:400">Perform quality control to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents, and test procedures. Recognize instrument malfunction and out-of-control test results and takes corrective action.</li><li style="font-weight:400">Follow appropriate departmental infection control procedures in addition to mandatory infection control education.</li><li style="font-weight:400">Attend all annual mandatory education as required.</li></ul> MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Medical Technology, Biology, or a related field. 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. The Role: The Associate Scientist Molecular Analysis is responsible for providing support of our genotyping operation, preparing next generation sequencing libraries, and developing new techniques. This person will primarily be responsible for genetic characterization of new rodent models. They are responsible for coordinating between departments to ensure project timelines are met and the appropriate tests are conducted. The role also participates in the development of new assays or techniques when additional analysis is needed. Problem solving is a core part of every day, essential for analyzing new results, and to integrate processes within a high throughput testing lab. Core Responsibilities:<ul><li>Establish new genotyping assays</li><li>Test and review genotyping orders as they become available</li><li>Prepare testing reports and genotyping milestones</li><li>Coordinate interdepartmentally to receive samples and deliver results</li><li>Maintain reagent inventory to support testing</li><li>Perform workflows to prepare NGS libraries</li><li>Operate and maintain next generation sequencing devices</li><li>Implement new testing protocols</li><li>Drive lab process improvement projects</li><li>Write SOPs to document new protocols</li><li>Support Molecular Analysis processes as needed</li></ul>Education and Experience:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in the biological field from a four-year college or technical school, or technical/managerial experience at an equivalent level</li><li>Minimum 1-year relevant experience and/or training</li><li>Experience in skilled or technical assignments requiring previous training to perform operations and resolve problems where some guidelines or standards are provided</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization</li></ul>Physical Demands: Some physical exertion is required such as long periods of standing, recurring bending and lifting, and/or lifting items up to 25 pounds. Salary Range::
