Engineering Seasonal Assistant/Intern Department Engineering Pay Grade 6 FLSA Status Safety Sensitive Non-Exempt No JOB SUMMARY Performs sidewalk, drainage system and street light inventories and mapping and other assigned tasks in support of the Engineering Department. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Conducts sidewalk inventories. Performs street light outage surveys. Conducts stormwater and utility GPS surveys. Conducts Raingarden surveys. Prepares quantity takeoffs and cost estimates. Creates sketches of project designs for the CADD operator. Assists in various assignments to support the Engineering department. Performs any other related duties as required or assigned. Supervision Received: Reports to Assistant City Engineer. Supervision Exercised: None. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience and/or training. WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee in this position is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions; occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, heavy construction equipment, work at treatment planta and pump stations, in high, precarious places, along highways and streets, on bridges, near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment will sometimes be very loud.
