Ability to: Secure assigned areas of the department; identify and quickly respond to potential problems and conflict and defend self and others in combative situations; adjust to varying levels of crowds, noise levels, smoke and weather conditions; to lift, to assist sick or injured customers or team members; operates a variety of equipment to include hand radios, monitors, fire extinguishers, resuscitation equipment, two way radio; interpret and explain policies and procedures; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, laws and regulations. The Racing Security Officer maintains security protection which includes racing transactions, public relations, crowd control, performing command center functions, assisting guests, horsemen and team members as needed to maintain order; provides administrative support to the Security Shift Supervisor assigned to the racing area; and performs related tasks within the area of assignment.
