The Dental Assistant will assist the dentist during dental procedures, assist in maintaining accountability and sterilization of instruments, become proficient in Bureau Electronic Medical Records System [BEMR] (the inmate electronic medical record), conduct him/herself in a professional manner around inmates, and perform any other tasks deemed necessary by the dentist while adhering to the general practice of a dental assistant. Attire must include clean, appropriate medical scrubs, closed-toe protective footwear, and any necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and eyewear.

Certified Dental Assistant – FCI Marion<h5>Work Location Federal Correctional Institution-Marianna</h5><h5>4500 Prison Road</h5><h5>Marion, IL 62959</h5><ul><li>Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.</li><li>Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.</li><li>Type of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.</li><li>Estimated Period of Performance: 01 July 2026 – 30 June 2031.</li><li>Estimate Pay: $20.05 - $25.14 per hour.</li><li>Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.</li><li>Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, occurring on day one.</li><li>Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays</li></ul>Working Hours The Dental Assistant will normally work Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, except on Federal holidays. The Dental Assistant will not work more than 40 hours a week. Summary of DutiesThe Dental Assistant must perform all duties in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of dental assistant services, and in compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The Dental Assistant will assist the dentist during dental procedures, assist in maintaining accountability and sterilization of instruments, become proficient in Bureau Electronic Medical Records System [BEMR] (the inmate electronic medical record), conduct him/herself in a professional manner around inmates, and perform any other tasks deemed necessary by the dentist while adhering to the general practice of a dental assistant.Qualifications<ul><li>Must process a High School Certificate of Graduation or GED.</li><li>Must have specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school.</li><li>Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety.</li><li>Must hold current CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.</li><li>Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services.</li><li>Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable.</li></ul>**Copies of all certifications and resumes must be forwarded with your application.AttireThe Dental Assistant is required to maintain a professional appearance consistent with clinical standards. All clothing and accessories must comply with facility safety protocols and present a neat, hygienic, and professional image at all times. Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe current radiological equipment provided is a digital machine. <ul><li>Assists the Dental Officer in restorative, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, examinations, and emergency cases.</li><li>Retrieves patient records, escorts patients to the appropriate dental area, seats and prepares them for treatment, and provides dismissal and follow-up instructions.</li><li>Prepares dental instruments, materials, medications, treatment rooms, and equipment for procedures; passes instruments, retracts tissues, irrigates, and operates the aspirator.</li><li>Assists the Dental Officer by preparing dental instruments, essential materials, drugs, and medications.</li><li>Passes instruments, retracts tissues, irrigates oral cavities, and operates an aspirator.</li><li>Observes patient's responses and assists patient for dismissal from the Dental Clinic.</li><li>Give instructions for subsequent dental appointments.</li><li>Makes necessary entries on dental treatment records (both electronic and paper records).</li><li>Prepares the dental treatment room for the next patient.</li><li>Assists in the treatment of emergency cases.</li><li>Provides dental health education.</li><li>Preparation of patients for periodontal surgery.</li><li>Dental and periodontal charting.</li><li>Prepares places and removes packs.</li><li>Places and removal of rubber dams.</li><li>Maintains dental equipment.</li><li>Cleans, sharpens, and sterilizes instruments.</li><li>Performs daily inspection of equipment and makes minor repairs.</li><li>Reports defective equipment or utilizes corrective action.</li><li>Performs routine polishing of the clinical crowns of teeth.</li><li>Uses basic dental hand instruments and oral hygiene aides.</li><li>Performs procedures pursuant to the fabrication and repair of complete denture prosthesis and removable partial prosthesis.</li><li>Uses acrylic resins as basic materials.</li><li>Takes radiographs of patients using digital dental radiography.</li><li>Obtains diagnostic quality periapical, occlusal, lateral, jaw, TMJ, and panographic radiographs.</li><li>Correctly positions the patient and film.</li><li>Determines the level of radiation intensity to minimize radiation exposure of patients.</li><li>Processes and saves digital radiographs to patient medical records.</li><li>Performs quality assurances on radiographic and developing equipment.</li><li>Maintains proper infection control procedures in radiographic techniques.</li><li>Sterilizes contaminated biological waste of the dental clinic.</li><li> Make primary impressions and pour casts</li><li> Selects tooth shade for composite restorations and dentures</li></ul>COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:<ul><li>Competitive Compensation package</li><li>Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental and vision options.</li><li>Outstanding career growth potential.</li></ul>ABOUT US:Fidelity Partners is a Inc. 5000, USA company that provides medical, technical, logistical, and administrative services to the federal government and commercial Clients across the country.
